What is a Corrugated Cardboard?

Corrugated cardboard is a durable and lightweight packaging material widely used for shipping, storage, and various other applications. It has two main components: the liner and the medium, both made from a special kind of heavy paper called containerboard. The conventional corrugated cardboard box has three fiberboard layers that make up its corrugated composition. The outer facing layer is the “outer liner”, the inside facing layer is the “inner liner”, and the middle wavy layer is the “flute”.

Fluting is the secret to the strength of corrugated boxes. Flutes come in various sizes: A, B, C, D, E, and specialty flutes (such as AC and BC). Depending on the different flute grades, they provide cushioning, strength, and compression-resistant qualities to the packages, allowing for even more customization. By combining layers, customizing flute grades, or adding interior padding, corrugated boxes can fit any packaging need.

Below are some of the styles of corrugated boxes we offer:

Regular Slotted Carton (RSC)

All flaps have the same length, and the two long outer flaps (lengthwise) meet in the middle of the box when folded. These boxes are taped at the top and bottom for closure.
This is the most common box style for transporting products and storing.

Half Slotted Carton (HSC)

HSC is similar to the regular slotted container but without one set of flaps. One side of the box is completely open, allowing it to slide over an item.
It is used for open-top applications like storage bins or covers.

Overlap Slotted Carton (OSC)

All flaps have the same length, and the outer flaps overlap by one inch or more. The box is usually closed with staples driven through the overlap area.
It is suitable for transporting long and narrow items.

Full-Overlap Slotted Carton (FOL)

All flaps have the same length, but the outer flaps completely overlap each other when closed. This style of box is ideal for rough handling.
This style is suitable for heavy or fragile items that require additional protection.

One Piece Folder (OPF)

This box style is made from a single piece of corrugated board, which provides a flat bottom, flaps that form the sides and ends, and side flaps that fold and meet to form the top.
lt is perfect for books, printed matter, and electronic components.

Five Panel Folder (FPF)

A single cut and scored piece of corrugated board with a fifth panel used as the closing flap, completely covering a side panel.
This style is ideal for long, narrow items with a small diameter, like golf clubs or furniture.

Full Telescope Design Style Carton (FTD)

FTD is comprised of a top and bottom piece. The top piece has slightly wider dimensions, allowing it to slide completely over the bottom and providing extra material thickness on all sides and end panels.
This box style is used for long, flat products such as framed art and mirrors.

Full Telescope Half Slotted Carton (FTHS)

The Full Telescope Half Slotted Box is simply a Full Telescope Box with a slotted top or bottom on both halves.
FTHS containers feature excellent loading and storage ability.
This box style is built for moving heavier items and offers superior stacking strength.

Die Cut Boxes (DCB)

These are customized boxes created using a die-cutting process requiring angular, circular, or unusual cuts, slots, and scores.
This style is utilized in retail packaging, promotional displays, and product-specific designs.

Snap Lock or 1-2-3 Bottom Carton with RSC Top

The four flaps that form the bottom panel are die-cut and folded to produce a secure lock, keeping it closed without glue, tape, or staples. The regular flaps meet in the middle at the top.
This style is perfect for bulky yet lightweight products such as baked goods, apparel, and textiles.

Roll End Tray (Walker Lock Tray or Tray with Self Locking Ends)

This style is ideal for organizing or stacking products. It also makes an excellent display for cans, bottles, or other retail products.
This style is perfect for bulky yet lightweight products such as baked goods, apparel, and textiles.

Integral Divider or Self Divider Box (RSC with Integral Divider or Self Divider Box)

The outer structure of the carton is a Regular Slotted Container. The divider system is either pre-assembled into the carton or designed to be easily inserted during packaging.
This box style is used to package items more tightly and securely, reducing the risk of breakage and other forms of damage.
It is especially suitable for fragile glass items.

Double Cover Carton (DC)

The double-cover carton is constructed with a four-panel tube serving as the side panels and features two interchangeable trays that function as the top and bottom of the box.
This design adds structural integrity and provides robust packaging, making it well-suited for securely housing substantial and sizable items.
This box style is a popular choice for tall, large, or heavy items.

Octagonal Double Cover Carton

The corrugated cardboard used for the container consists of a fluted layer sandwiched between two flat linerboards. The main body of the container has eight sides and comes with two separate covers, one for the top and one for the bottom, which fit easily over the main body.
This box style is frequently used for tall or heavy products that would be difficult to lower into a box.
